A WORKING RESIDENCY

The making of fine jewelry, opened up.

For two months, Bernard James takes residence at USM SoHo, transforming part of the showroom into a working studio, shop, and exhibition.

Visitors can encounter the objects, tools, materials, and people behind the work — from loose stones and empty settings to finished jewelry.

The jeweler’s bench sits at the center of [In Process], bringing a part of the studio that is usually hidden into the public space.

Tools, stones, settings, references, and works in progress remain visible alongside finished jewelry, allowing visitors to see the steps between an idea and a completed piece.

The bench remains active throughout the residency, making process part of the experience rather than something that happens behind the scenes.
